Marc Boshoff completed his secondary education in the United Kingdom before returning to South Africa to pursue a Bachelor of Social Science at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. It was during this period that he gained his first teaching experience through a mentoring programme in the Department of Political Science. 

After completing his undergraduate degree, Marc joined the Global Cool Foundation in London, where he contributed to a team dedicated to promoting climate awareness through positive public engagement. Following an extended stay in the United States, he returned to South Africa and took up a role as a research assistant in the Department of Geomatics at the University of Cape Town, also serving in an advisory capacity for postgraduate students.

Marc continued his academic journey at Stellenbosch University, where he earned a BA (Honours) in Political Science and an MA (cum laude) in International Relations. A subsequent period of travel took him from Malawi to Malaysia, after which he relocated to South Korea to begin his career as an English teacher. Over the next ten years, he taught at three international schools, holding the position of Head Instructor at two of them. He was subsequently drawn to join Huitong in China due to its innovative and reimagined approach to education.

Nancy Li holds a Bachelor's in Polymer Materials and Engineering from Wuyuzhang Honours College of Sichuan University, a Master's in Organic Chemistry from UCLA, and a PGCE from the University of Nottingham. Nancy has taught in a range of schools in Shenzhen, specialising in Physics and Chemistry, and joins us as a STEM teacher in the Senior Grades.

Shengyuan Lyu is a founding faculty member at Huitong School, teaching mathematics across multiple grade levels and serving as the coach of the middle school maths competition team. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Shandong University and a master’s degree in International Educational Development from Teachers College, Columbia University. In his teaching, he integrates the strengths of different curricula, emphasises the process of knowledge formation, and guides students to focus on understanding the “why” behind concepts rather than just the “how.” His classroom style is structured and forward-looking, while also infused with humor and approachability. Students learn in a relaxed atmosphere, yet still experience his high expectations for academic standards and learning progress. Beyond daily classes, he leads maths competition training and coaches the middle school maths team, preparing students systematically for international contests such as the AMC. Under his guidance, students have achieved excellent results in AMC8. In addition, he also takes on academic management responsibilities within the school, working to improve curriculum quality and strengthen faculty collaboration, contributing consistently to the school's development.

Wendy Wu holds a Master's degree in English Language Teaching from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor's degree in the same field from the Education University of Hong Kong. With over 13 years of experience in language education, she has taught in a variety of international settings.

During her five years teaching at two local schools in Hong Kong, Wendy was responsible for delivering lessons in English, Mandarin, and General Studies (in English). She also held leadership roles as the Panel Head for General Studies and Year-Level Coordinator for English.

She went on to serve as a bilingual class teacher at EtonHouse International School in Singapore, where she played a key role in designing the scope and sequence of the school’s bilingual programme. After relocating to Shenzhen with her family, she continued her career at BASIS International School Shenzhen, where she taught for two years.

Since joining Huitong in 2019, Wendy has been an English teacher and previously held the position of Assistant Head of the English Department for the Lower School. A strong advocate of differentiated teaching, she is deeply committed to recognising and nurturing each child's unique potential through thoughtfully designed instruction that cultivates individual talents.

Xianglei Yuan brings several years of distinguished mathematics teaching experience from Wuhan Foreign Languages School, where he achieved outstanding academic outcomes. Under his guidance, students have gained admission to prestigious institutions such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Renmin University in China, along with the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, and Columbia University internationally. Many of his students have also earned distinctions in Mathematics Olympiads and other high-level academic competitions.

More recently, Yuan has contributed to the “Belt and Road” Initiative through his involvement in designing mathematics curricula, supporting the development of international educational cooperation. He possesses extensive practical experience and deep insight into personalised teaching approaches, demonstrating a strong commitment to tailoring education to young learners' needs.

Tamsyn was born and raised in South Africa. She earned her B.Ed Degree specialising in Primary Education and more recently her M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education. Before coming to China in 2018, Tamsyn taught students from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds in South Africa, as well as at a Montessori school in the USA. In her 14 years of teaching, her experience varies from teaching students from the ages of 3 – 9 years. She enjoys creating engaging, student centred lessons that encourage and inspire learners to strive for their goals.

Li Yalin graduated from Qingdao University with a Bachelor's degree and was awarded the Shandong Province Outstanding Graduate Award. She majored in Literary and Comparative Studies and holds a Master's degree from Hong Kong Baptist University; she also holds a Diploma in Special Education from Hong Kong University. She graduated in the top 5 from HKBU and attended the Harvard World Literature Seminar on a full scholarship. Yalin has worked at the Hong Kong International Montessori School for 5 years and has extensive bilingual teaching and classroom management experience. She is a very passionate and patient teacher and won the outstanding teaching award in Shenzhen Nanshan after joining Huitong School.

Jun Jia holds B.A. and M.A. degrees from Renmin University of China, and completed his Ph.D. in comparative literature and world literature at the same institute. Funded by the China Scholarship Council, he attended Università di Bologna in Italy for one year. There, he experienced the importance of diversity and internationalism. His fluency in both Chinese and English will make a great contribution to our bilingual campus and his research in the humanities in both Chinese and Western contexts will help cultivate children's ability to critically think. A firm believer in the significance of interdisciplinary education, he introduces students to a larger world through the tools of language, literature, history, and philosophy.

Hannah Liu graduated from the School of International Studies at Sun Yat-sen University and received a master's degree from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at the same school. She has teaching experience in IB Chinese at two international schools in China and has worked as a Chinese teacher at a Korean International Culture Promotion Institute and an American public primary school, designing multi-disciplinary merged language courses. She believes that each student is an individual with a unique path of development. A teacher is like the light that illuminates each child's inner potential and makes it shine on the road of life that children choose independently.

Jessie Gong lived in Beijing for the last ten years, where she earned her B.A. from Renmin University and her M.A. from Peking University. She studied language, language contact, and historical syntax in graduate school. Through this experience, she learned more about diversification and the complexity of languages and cultures. With an enthusiasm for child development and public welfare, she joined the China Youth Development Foundation after graduation and acted as project manager for Project Hope. Later she worked for Bytedance to conduct network literacy programs for children. Being adequately inspired by doing educational programmes, she hopes, with her professional background in Chinese language and literature, to serve children thriving at Huitong School.

Ms. Gan graduated with an M.S. in ICT in Education from the University of Hong Kong, and a B.S. in teaching from South China Normal University. Also, she completed the IB teaching training from DePaul University and become a certified IB teacher for middle and upper school. Ms. Gan has worked in bilingual and international schools in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, she has 7 years teaching experiences in STEM-Physics, engineering and technology. Ms. Gan focus on differentiation teaching, bilingual teaching and project-based learning during these years, she wrote an article related to bilingual teaching and published in the international innovation submit in Spain.

Jenny Lai obtained her B.A. from School of Chinese Language and Literature in Beijing Normal University and M.Ed. from the University of Hong Kong. She has taught in local schools and international schools in Hong Kong for 10 years. During the time she worked in English School Foundation (ESF), which is the largest English-medium international school organisation in Asia, she was trained as an experienced IB teacher. She designed and developed various IBMYP and IBDP school-based curriculum in Chinese, including Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Theory of Knowledge, and more. She has also co-authored and published one book on IBDP Chinese B and two books on IBMYP Chinese Language and Literature. She was also a supervisor of Personal Project in MYP, Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge Essays and CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service) activities.

Anita Xia received her B.A. from Huazhong Agricultural University and her Master Degree of Curriculum and Instruction from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She has five years’ experience of teaching Chinese language and literacy to both Chinese and American students. She joined Teach for China after graduation and served as the headteacher and taught Chinese literacy, focusing on teacher-student relationship and classroom management. While pursuing her master’s degree with a full scholarship at SIUE, she became a Chinese lecturer there and was responsible for designing the curriculum, teaching language courses, and conducting cultural events. After graduate school, she worked as an adjunct professor and Chinese programme coordinator at a private liberal arts college in Massachusetts.

Bella Li is a Chinese teacher with a global perspective and an international education background. She received her bachelor’s degree from Shandong Normal University and studied for her master’s degree at Renmin University of China. Bella is a certified teacher (K-12). She has been teaching in public and international schools in Beijing for nearly 11 years. Her extensive teaching experience has led her to form a unique teaching method that combines Western and Chinese approaches. Bella has completed and participated in several years of project-based learning. She participated in a project-based learning concept called “March Madness”(G3-5) that combined mathematics, language, art, information technology, and social sciences. Her teaching plan, “Give You a Bunch of Flowers” (G5), won first place in the national teaching proposal contest. With her deep understanding of education and extensive experience, Bella will continue to practice the Chinese teaching concept of “happy learning and happy harvest” at Huitong.

Dora Zhang graduated with a Master’s degree in Language Education from Education University of Hong Kong. She has worked as a Chinese teacher in two well-known international schools in Shenzhen for nearly ten years. She has rich experience in teaching and has in-depth understanding and practice of IGCSE and IBMYP curriculum. Her students won prizes and honours on competitions both in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. With the concept of lifelong learning, she has participated in many workshops and seminars organised by IBO to further strengthen and improve herself in her professional field.

Zhihui Shi is a dedicated international educator with substantial bilingual teaching experience and interdisciplinary expertise. After completing her postgraduate studies, she joined an IB international school as a homeroom teacher, where she taught Chinese, English, Mathematics, and inquiry-based courses, accumulating seven years of solid international education practice. As a founding teacher of Huitong School, she has focused on innovative approaches to bilingual mathematics education.

She maintains a cheerful and optimistic teaching style, excelling at creating a positive learning environment. As a mother of two daughters, she incorporates the warmth and wisdom of family education into her classroom practice, with particular emphasis on developing students' growth mindset. She firmly believes that every child is a unique individual, and through attentive observation and personalised support, she helps each student discover and develop their distinctive strengths.

Gemma Ji obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the Department of Mathematics of Beijing Normal University, and was subsequently recommended to PHBS Business School of Peking University to obtain a Master of Economics degree. Before joining Huitong, she held teaching positions in international educational institutions, mainly responsible for the teaching of A-level mathematics and further mathematics, AP calculus, and AP statistics. As a teacher with a multidisciplinary background, she is committed to helping students connect mathematics with other subjects, improve students' interest and confidence in learning mathematics, develop their intellectual literacy, and achieve excellent results.

Sandy Orozco has a diverse background in the medical and educational fields. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on Pre-Med, along with minors in chemistry and sociology from MSMU. With over four years of teaching experience in China, Sandy has made a significant impact by developing engaging curricula and organising activities for students' overall development. Prior to her teaching career, she worked in the medical field in the United States, where she trained and taught CPR to emergency personnel and children. Sandy's versatility shines through her experience teaching children and individuals of various ages in diverse settings. She excels in teaching a wide range of subjects, ensuring each student's unique learning needs are met. Combining her strong educational background and extensive teaching and medical experience, Sandy brings a wealth of expertise to the classroom. Her genuine passion for teaching and ability to create engaging learning environments inspire students to reach their fullest potential.

Timothy Bragg hails from the rural town of Frewsburg, New York, and pursued his undergraduate studies at SUNY Oswego, where he engaged with a comprehensive spectrum of scientific disciplines—spanning physics, chemistry, environmental science, anatomy, physiology, entomology, botany, biochemistry, genetics, and general biology. While at the university, he contributed as both a tutor and a teaching assistant in the comparative anatomy laboratory, prior to earning his Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. Driven by a commitment to professional growth and cross-cultural exchange, Timothy relocated to Shenzhen, where he has been an integral member of the Huitong community since the high school’s founding in 2019.

Luke Biesiada began his teaching career in 1997. He holds a diploma from Teacher Training College, where he specialised in Applied Linguistics. His professional background includes diverse educational settings—from kindergartens and state schools to language training centres. In 2005, he relocated to China to further his work in international education, progressing not only as a classroom teacher but also into educational leadership roles.

He has pursued continued professional development through a range of recognised qualifications, including the LCCI certification from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Trinity DELTM, Cambridge TKT Module 1, and the Teacher Diploma from the University of Helsinki. In addition to his teaching expertise, he has contributed to teacher training and development, mentoring a number of educators before joining Huitong School.

Natasha Wessel was born in South Africa and spent part of her childhood in Greece before returning to complete her schooling and undergraduate studies in her home country. Her passion for education emerged early, leading her to begin lecturing shortly after graduation.

In 2019, motivated by both her dedication to teaching and an interest in diverse cultures, she relocated to China to continue her professional journey. Over the past six years, she has gained substantial experience teaching Early Years and Primary students, working within the IB PYP Framework, Common Core State Standards, EYFS, and the Reggio Emilia approach. Her time in China strengthened her commitment to education and inspired her to pursue further professional development, completing her PGCE in 2024.

Natasha believes that teaching extends beyond knowledge transfer to sparking curiosity, nurturing growth, and fostering meaningful connections that inspire students to become lifelong learners.
